New Bikes

My fiancé and I love to ride bikes. We decided that for Christmas last year we were going to get a new set of Mountain bikes. When we started shopping for them we were blown away by the pricing. A bike can be very expensive unless you know the right way to go about it! The prices for a new set of bikes can be anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand dollars depending on how extreme you want to go!

My fiancé and I are big believers in Craigslist. Whenever we are looking to purchase something we always look on Craigslist before we decide or even look at a store. Well it just so happened that we were looking for used Mountain bikes on the right day and we found a set that looked really nice.

We made arrangements with the couple to come over and check out the bikes. It turns out the ladies bike had only been ridden a couple times and it was in great condition. The man’s bike looked really good as well, so we decided to buy them!

We have only ridden them a couple times but we love our bikes! Next time you are in the market be sure to check out Craigslist you never know what you will find!

My Favorite Place to Hike

I love to hike. One of my favorite places to hike is Multnomah Falls. When I was younger my parents would always take me there to hike. Now as I get older I love to go there with my fiancé. There is something about hiking that helps you escape the world and take you a little bit out of your element. Something about the fresh air and the feeling of unlimited freedom makes it the perfect outdoor activity!

The enjoyable things about Multnomah Falls is that the hike is only 1 mile up and 1 mile down and it is a pretty simple hike. It is a steep hike so when you get to the top you are ready to head down hill. I also love the scenery! At Multnomah Falls there are lots of green trees and the waterfall itself is just breathe taking! I love how when you reach the top of the falls there is a wood plat form that extends over the falls! It is a great treat for making it to the top!

If you have never been to Multnomah Falls and you live in Oregon you should try to make a trip there! It is a very easy but enjoyable hike!

My First Fishing Experience

When I was about 5 years old I went on my first fishing trip. My grandma took all of the grandkids to the beach for the weekend. We all hopped in the mini van and drove to New Port Beach. My grandma has a time-share there so we all stayed in the time-share. All of us kids decided that it would be a neat experience to go deep-sea bottom fishing.

We chose to go on that Saturday so that we could spend all day on the boat. We all got up early that morning and hopped back in the mini van and drove to the boat dock. When we got to the dock we all got life vests. After everyone was secure in his or her life vest the journey was off and to sea we went!

We each got our own fishing pool and the fishing instructor came by and taught us each how to hold the pole and what to do if we caught a fish. All I can remember is that every single one of us caught a fish that day and at the end of the trip the last step was to wash the fish we had caught and pack it up to take home.

We had a good fish dinner that night and I will never forget my first fishing trip.

Snowboarding

I first learned to Snowboard about 5 years ago. It was hard at first but since I had previous wake boarding experience I think that made it a lot easier to learn. I really enjoyed it once I got the hang of it but it took me a good couple of years to feel like I had finally gotten the sport down.

Last winter everything changed for me! I was up snowboarding with my fiancé and I took a bad fall! For some reason I just could not get the hang of feeling comfortable on the board, I was toe side to the mountain and I flipped backwards, when I landed I could not move my arm! My fiancé immediately called for help and the next thing I knew I was riding on a sled to the ER at the mountain.

After multiple ex rays they determined that my wrist was broken in multiple places. They also told me that I had to have emergency surgery that evening to put all the bones back into place! Now I have never broken any bones and I have never had surgery before so this was a very scary experience for me!

I am happy to say now that everything is said and done my wrist is pretty much back to normal. I do have a 3 inch scare up my wrist and a new addition to my body of 8 screws, 2 pins and a metal plate! That is what you get for loving a sport like snowboarding.

Water Adventures!

The days are getting longer and our friend the sun is starting to come out! What does that mean for me….summer time! What else does that mean, it means sun tanning, drinking margarita’s, water skiing, wake boarding, and my favorite thing, all of these things combined…going to the river!

Going to the river means that my fiancé and I and my mom and her boyfriend pack up the boat and drive to the river! The river is only about 15 minutes away from where we live. My mom lives close to us so it is about the same distance from my mom’s home.

After the boat is all packed up we head out for our water adventure. My mom has to back the boat down in the ramp and then we are off! The wind is blowing in our hair and the sun is out! It is so hot outside that I usually volunteer to be the first one to jump in the water. My mom throws me my ski and says “Grab on to the rope!” Once I hold on to the rope I give the signal and I am pulled out of the water!

This routine continues through the day as we rotate people skiing, wake boarding, and driving the boat. After we are all tired from skiing we head to the beach to eat some lunch and drink margaritas!

This is just one example of the many water adventures!
