Short Week

Hope everyone is having a good week so far. I had a good work out this morning. I didn’t want to run too much with the marathon on Sunday, so today I did 10 min on the precor, ran a mile, 10 min on the stair step, ran a mile, and another 10 min on the precor. It helps me to mix things up bit so I don’t get bored. Yesterday I worked on strength training my legs and tomorrow I will do upper body strength training.

Andy went onto lime  wire for the first time today and says it is awesome! We just stopped using bear share and were looking for somewhere else to downloan music, so I am very excited. Thanks Darc!

Better and Better

Hello all fellow runners! I am so excited because I am getting better and better at running! On Sunday I decided to go to the gym and start my week out right. I ran on the treadmill and I had my best time yet. I ran 3 miles in 35 minutes. I cut my rest time to 1 and a half minutes and then I ran 4 min, then 5 min, then 6 min, then 5 min. etc. It felt really good! Also I took the time before I left to down load some new songs. The ones I recommend are Brittany Spears “Womanizer”, Brittany Spears “Piece of me”, Pink “So What”, Pussycat Dolls “When I grow up”, and Stella “American Boy”. All of these songs have great beats, are high energy and great to run too. Darcy I will have to check out Madonna’s new cd as well. I love good music and it makes all the difference to have good beats to run to!  I have been going running every other day, which seems to be a good fit for right now. I really enjoy my running time and I look forward to it by doing it every other day, I also feel like it will help me from burning out.

New Music!

So Madonna’s latest CD (hard candy) has recently made my running playlist.  While in my weekly abs class the instructor played the remix of her most recent single Miles Away.  Click on the link for a free download.

Happy running!  My gym is opening a new location, and they are having a party/get together for everyone that has joined already, so kim, becky, and I are all going.  But I have already decided I will not be drinking, and will be going straight to the actual gym afterward.

Hope your weeks are going well!

Long Run

Hey everyone!

Glad to see were all still using the blog, especially Darcy, who no one can get a hold of anymore. Kitri it sounds like you had a great run on Saturday. The weather was beautiful here too. I think the shamrock run sounds perfect. I would do the 8K or the 15K. When do you need to know who will do it? Darcy I will look in August to see if I can find some fun runs for us to do and get back to you. I’ll try to check out those websites tonight, and let you know what i think.

Like ALyssa said, we ran about 2.5 miles on Sunday outside before we went to the Seahawks game (WooHoo!). Yesterday I didn’t run, but did precor instead and then did some upper body lifting. Tonight I am going to try for a 7 mile run. ANdy and I are preparing for the Seattle half marathon the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so we can run off all food we ate!

Keep up the work outs everyone!!

Hello Again!

I am so proud of everyone for writing! I love to blog and it is fun to have other people to blog with! Misty and I decided even though we are not doing the HTC we should all continue to blog our progress. I love it, it keeps me in check and I have got to get in shape for my wedding! This week so far I went for a 2 mile run with Misty on Sunday. I took yesterday off but today I ran 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. Every time I get on the treadmill I improve! Darcy can you post the link to the website you found that you mentioned at the end of your blog, or is it http://www.marathon-training-program.com/ what you listed above? My goal is to train 4-5 days a week and keep improving more and more. I am still running 3 minutes at 5.5 then walking 2 min at 3.5 but every time I find I can run longer. This morning I ran 3 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 6 minutes, then and 5 again with 2 minute walking in between. I am hoping by next week to cut walking to 1.5 minutes. Kitri can you keep me informed on any other runs you know of that are around Portland. I would love to train for a 5k or 10k. Maybe we could all do one together :)

Alive and Well!

Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t logged on in a while.  Last week was crazy with a few different design events that I went to.  With the running from place to place last week, and me not having a phone for a while I have been kind of under the radar recently. I did manage to work out almost everyday this past week, except for saturday.  I ran 7 miles after work on friday night and took saturday to rest my legs.  Worked on the precore & bikes yesterday, and today I ran a quick 3 mile run before taking an abbs and arms class tonight.  I will say that it is pretty amazing how much more energy I always have after making myself work out and a daily basis.

Misty, DJ skeet skeet’s website is www.eatskeet.com but if you check on the link from the post before it should take you directly to the part of the site with the FREE downloads.   Check it out at http://www.marathon-training-program.com

I am SO bumbed that i can’t be in the northwest to run any of those races with your guys.  I am planing on finding a half marathon around me to run.  Is there anything next august around alyssa’s wedding that we can run.  It looks like that will be the next time im in town.

I also found this great website today that had marathon and half marathon training schedules on it, along with health and fitness tips as well.

Better Late Than Never

Hi Kids,

It’s the loveable (and currently slightly disgruntled) T-Mac. Well, I might as well jump in with my workout results for the weekend. Friday, Kitri and I hit the gym. I ran approximately 2 miles and finished with some lifting. The same can be said for Saturday. Although, my run was slightly interrupted by Andy Oldenburg, who told me the Irish nearly lost to Navy…again. The happy couple is hopefully off to Bally’s (or the BTF as I call it) to run and watch Brady Quinn carve up the Bills. Let’s hope a) Brady becomes the second comming of Joe Montana AND b) I make it the full 30 minutes without wanting to quit. Will I do it…stay tuned.

10K Race and Others

Hello Friends!

Alyssa, I’m glad to hear your toe is better!  And everyone else, I hope you’re beating those colds and the fall weather blues.

I’ve been doing just some short stints lately on the treadmill, similar to what I wrote on the 7th.  My friend Katy and I ran in the Autumn Leaves 10K on Saturday.  We lucked out with beautiful weather!  The course was pretty flat and on concrete for the first 4.8 miles, then the next mile and a half were on a backwoods dirt path.  I stayed pretty slow for the first 5 miles, and ran about 11 min/mile, then the last 1.2 miles I ran in 9:20.  Definitely not my best time ever for a 10K, but it felt great to just get out there and run some longer mileage.

We are running in a 5K on December 7th in Portland - the Jingle Bell 5K.  Should be a pretty flat and fast course, I’m looking forward to it.

Misty, you asked about other races this spring.  One of my favorites is the Shamrock Run in downtown Portland (the last few years it has started and ended on Naito).  They have a 1K run for kids, a 3.5 mile fitness walk, a 5K run, an 8K run, and a 15K run.  If we register 4 or more people together as a group, we get a $4 discount per person ($25 each) on registration, so let me know if you’re interested!

Good luck out there, guys!

Kitri

Couple run!

Last night Andy and I got the chance to work out together as part of our date night. We did some stuff on our own, but then we ran 2 miles together and it was great. Andy really pushes me and we ended up running at 7min mile pace for awhile. Were really trying to get some good training in for the half marathon at the end of the month.

So even though we didn’t get into the HTC next year Alyssa and I think we should keep doing our blog, so I’m still going to do it. Hope you all decide too as well. We also thought we would find a couple of races next spring and summer that we could all do together. Travis and Kitry, do you know of any good ones we should sign up for??

Darcy, what is that website for DJ Skeet? Are the downloads free? (probably not) I’ll have to check it out because I love running to remix’s.

Wednesday Workout

I felt like I was getting sick the last couple of days so I have been taking it easy. Tonight I finally felt ready to get back in the gym. I had a really good run and feel like I am improving daily! Tonight I ran 30 minutes with 3 minutes running at 5.5 and 2 minutes walking 3.5 for the first 15 minutes, then I ran 5 minutes at 5.5 and walked 2 minutes at 3.5 for the remainder of the run. I ended up running 2.5 miles the longest run I have done since starting training. I know it does not sound like much but I will look back at these posts in a few months and feel really good about how far I have come!

For my workout I did an abs, butt and a core body workout I found in one of my Fitness magazines. It felt great to get back in to the gym and I am going to go again tomorrow and hopefully drag Brian with me :)

As far as music goes I like to listen to Brittany Spears as well! She always has good beats! I also like to listen to Christina Agulara and Incubus. Another good one is Kanye West Stronger.
