Hey Everyone . . . Since I have no phone, I have nothing better to do then to write for the second time today! I went running in the park after work today. I was really exhausted after a long day, and REALLY had to force myself to go, but once I started I loved every minute of it. I ran the entire central park loop tonight, which is a little under 7 miles, but with the run back and forth to my apartment it rounded it out to 7 miles, completed in about 50 minutes. I feel like I must include doing my laundry in with my work out mainly because with the forgetting of my money, and lugging down my recycling and garbage, I have already run the stairs of my fourth floor walk up, down to my basement 7 times already. So we will say I did a little bit of glutes as well tonight . . . ha ha.
Misty, I love that you said womanizer. I forgot that I had that on my ipod and actually added it to my running playlist tonight. I am a HUGE Fan of DJ Skeet Skeet, solely because if you go to his website you can download a bunch of mixes that are all about 35 minutes long. So there is no need to shuffle between songs as you run. I also love listening to RADIOHEAD as well. Their music is great for the slow times during long runs when I’m working out thoughts.
Hey all, I worked out this weekend but didn’t run. Dad and Barbara were in town, so I took a step/muscle class with Barbara on Sat. and then yesterday we took a Zumba class. I was going to get Andy out on a run with me yesterday but we got too busy and then it started raining, so I’ll do hard runs this week instead.
Kitry, your race on the 15th sounds like fun, who are you running with?
Darcy, a couple of fun song l like running to are When I grow up by the Pussycat Dolls and Britney’s new song Womanizer. I know a lot of people don’t like it, but I think it’s kind of catchy. And no I haven’t heard anything yet about the Hood to Coast. DId you get a new phone yet???
Hello Team- I am happy to report my toe is feeling much better! I took Friday off because of my toe. Saturday I ran for 27 minutes 3 minutes running at 5.5 and 2 minutes recovery at 3.5, I also took Sunday off. I plan on going to the gym today so I will keep you all posted on how that goes. Hope everyone had a good weekend!
am a little disappointed to see that no one has writen this weekend. But no worries, since I am three hours ahead of everyone else, I will start us off. I took Saturday off and watched the following movie instead for motivation . . .
Click on the link for the trailer, it was pretty funny. Anyways, Yesterday I ran outside for a quick 1.5 mile run for 10 minuets, then back to the gym where I did the Precore for 25 minutes, and then arms, sholders, and back.
I thought it might be fun for us to all share our favorite music/artists/bands that we like to listen to when we run. Because I get bored easily, I am always looking for new music to add to my playlists.
Hey all! Thanks Alyssa, for sending along the link for this site. I probably won’t be posting every single one of my workouts, but I’ll try to as often as possible.
My training the last couple of weeks has consisted mostly of simple and easy treadmill workouts at the gym: 5 minutes walking at 3.7 mph, then 3 minutes of stretching, then 30-40 min of running at 5.0 mph, then 10 min of stretching and/or 15 min of abs/weights . I did the Run Like Hell 10K in Portland a few weeks ago and will also be competing in the Autumn Leaves 10K at Champoeg Park on the 15th.
I’m hoping after this next 10K to ramp things up a notch - longer everyday runs at higher speeds, extended runs (8-10 miles) on the weekends, some sprint workouts and some cross training.
Have a great weekend everyone!
So I think I am going to be the first one to report an injury…I did not work out today because last night at about 3am I woke up because my big toe on my right foot was pulsing in pain! I do not know if I sprained it or broke it or it is infected or someone just steeped on it and I did not notice but I can hardly walk today! I iced it until 4:30am and then I elevated it with some pillows and finally fell back asleep after taking ibuprofen. Pretty ruff night and it still hurts… any thoughts? I have been running a lot could I have landed on it funny? Anyways hopefully it is just an in grown toenail, or something easy because the only place it hurts is on the outside of the nail. My goal is to be back at the gym tomorrow so I will keep you all posted. Literally!
PS. Whenever you do posts make sure to post it under Hood to Coast. I noticed looking at a couple of the posts are not categorized. I will go in and edit all the post’s that did not get categorized, but in the future I need you to categorize your posts

Hey Everyone! So before my snatch and run last night, I actually had a pretty good work out. I ran on the Chelsea Piers path that run all along the west side of the Island. I ran for about 27 minutes, with a one mile warm up jog, and then 2 miles of running intervals of 1 minute sprints and 2 minute recovery. with a 1/2 mile cool down jog. Running about 3.75 miles with an average of a 7 minute mile. Went back to the gym and did an abs class with a little bit of butt work as well.
This morning, I had a quick run. I ran in the upper loop of central park. 2.75 miles in 20 minutes
Great Training! Did we officially get in yet misty?
Sounds like everyone is having a good week workout wise. Tuesday I ran an 8 min mile on the track and then did 2.5 miles on the treadmill at 6.5mph, increasing incline to 2.5 and increasing speed to 7.5 every few minutes.
Wednesday I did 1.5 miles on the track in under 10min, did a lower body workout, and then another 1.5 on the treadmill increasing the incline and speed every few minutes as before. (I really need to find different intervals for the treadmill, andy ideas?)
Today I did a modified crossfit workout and then a 3 mile run. The CF workout was for time- 50 situps, back extensions, pusups, lat pulls @ 120lbs., and air squats. That took 14 min. Then I ran 3 miles at a 9 min pace with a 1% incline. I highly reccommend crossfit type workouts to build up your overall body strength and anerobic capacity. It will make the speed at which you build aerobic endurance for long runs much greater.
