Whether you’re a hiker, a biker, a climber, or all of the above, having the right shoes for all strenuous activities is critical. Most people will base their outdoor shoe selection primarily on price, which isn’t always a bad thing (I know, I like my deals too!) But what about your comfort, ability, and endurance? Sure, your feet might feel great for the first 30 minutes or so, but what about after the first hour or two? Blisters and sores on your feet can bad enough to the point of mobility. Why not save yourself the misery and get yourself a nice, sturdy pair of shoes that you can rely on for all of your adventure months?
Now I haven’t been continuously climbing and hiking for very long, but I think I’ve been doing it long enough to know what is a good shoe and what isn’t.
I just recently invested in the Keen Alamosa Hiking Shoe, and it has literally been a God-send to my feet! What’s weird is that, for some reason, I have never had any odor problems with them. Their ventilation is excellent so when I take off my shoes in the car after a long hike, nobody is complaining.
If you want to access these boots and more, you can here!
Last year, my boyfriend bought me a vintage ‘79 Schwinn Cruiser that I literally went everywhere with. The warm months were filled with endless bike rides, maintenance projects, and good leg workouts, all while I looked old-school on my old Schwinny bike.
The colder months, however, provide a different story. We had an unbelievably chilly winter that actually extended quite a bit into our spring. Actually, we are just now seeing consistent sunny weather as of last week. Therefore, my poor old bike has been in my garage, looking at me each time I get into my car wondering if I had perhaps forgotten about him.
Well, let me tell you, I have never been so ready for this sun! I have my cute new Lucy hat, my new shades, and a lovely, polished cruiser that has been patiently waiting for my attention.
I also found out that the place I will be moving into this fall has an awesome little bike shop right around the corner that provides every bike service you’ll ever need, or the option to work on your bike personally at your own station. So guess what? My Schwinn will be getting the attention it deserves—almost nearly year-round! Not only is working on my bike a little therapeutic, but it also allows me to have an entirely new respect for bikers and their lifestyle of clean and active transportation!
I have taken up a new sport - spinning - also known as cycling. I take a few classes a week at the gym and it is one of my new favorite stress relievers. Each class I take has a different teacher who in turn has a different style to riding and there own selection when it comes to motivating music. I love how every class is different and I never know what to expect.
It has been at least 6 months since I really got into spinning. Since I enjoy it so much and I have been going at least a few times every week I decided to buy spinning shoes. Now I have heard that spinning shoes make your life a lot easier. Not only do they lock into the bike and provide great support for the rider but they also help prevent against injury by helping you stay in correct form.
I got my shoes from a local bicycle shop and they were a great help. I ended up getting the Louis Garneau Women’s LG Multi Cycling Shoe. It was in the right price range and just the right fit. Since this is my first pair of cycling shoes I did not want to spend too much money with out first experiencing how they felt.
I have a spinning class tonight and plan on using my shoes for the first time. I will keep you all posted on how it goes!
Have you ever taken a spinning class before? They are pretty intense and an average class burns between 400-600 calories. I have a wedding coming up in a few weeks I am trying to blast some major calories. I have been taking spinning classes for the last couple of weeks and I feel pretty good.
Spinning is when you sit on a stationary bike and you adjust your resistance to challenge yourself. Level 10 is the hardest resistance and it is really hard to pedal at this speed especially sitting down. For some reason I like standing when spinning. It is easier on my legs and my heart rate gets a lot more elevated when I stand compared to sitting.
If you have never taken a spinning class I encourage you to do so. It is a lot of work but the rewards for your hard work are all the calories you burn. You can find spinning at any local gyms. I am a member of LA Fitness and they offer over 10 spinning classes a week. Some start as early as 5:30am while others start as late as 6:45pm. I myself prefer to go to the 5:30pm classes. It is right after work for me and I get home at a decent time to eat dinner and enjoy the rest of my night.
Good Luck and have fun spinning!
My fiancé and I love to ride bikes. We decided that for Christmas last year we were going to get a new set of Mountain bikes. When we started shopping for them we were blown away by the pricing. A bike can be very expensive unless you know the right way to go about it! The prices for a new set of bikes can be anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand dollars depending on how extreme you want to go!
My fiancé and I are big believers in Craigslist. Whenever we are looking to purchase something we always look on Craigslist before we decide or even look at a store. Well it just so happened that we were looking for used Mountain bikes on the right day and we found a set that looked really nice.
We made arrangements with the couple to come over and check out the bikes. It turns out the ladies bike had only been ridden a couple times and it was in great condition. The man’s bike looked really good as well, so we decided to buy them!
We have only ridden them a couple times but we love our bikes! Next time you are in the market be sure to check out Craigslist you never know what you will find!
